Don Easdon and Bill Heater, operating as Bookends, are the data controller for personal data collected through Bookends. This notice explains what we collect and why.
What we collect and why
- Account details (email, login credentials, or your Google sign-in) — to create and secure your account. Basis: contract.
- What you type (your ideas and answers) — sent to our AI provider to write your lines. We don't store it after the response. Basis: contract.
- Subscription status (plan, renewal date) — to give you access. Basis: contract.
- Technical data (IP address, device and browser info, error logs) — for security, fraud prevention and fixing problems. Basis: legitimate interests.
- Messages you send us — to answer support requests. Basis: legitimate interests.
Who we share it with
- Service providers who host the app, run sign-in, and provide the AI that writes suggestions.
- Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record, for the sale of the product, subscription management, payments, tax compliance and invoicing.
- Professional advisers (legal, accounting) when needed.
- Authorities, where the law requires.
How long we keep it
We keep account and subscription data while your account is open and delete or anonymise it when it's no longer needed, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to see, correct, delete or export your data, object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw consent. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. Contact donneasdon@mac.com or bill@reallifecreative.com; we reply within one month.
International transfers
Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States, with safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and trusted providers to protect your data.
Cookies
We only use essential storage needed to keep you signed in. We don't use advertising cookies.
